The Mt. 黑料导航 Career Center, in collaboration with Strong Workforce and the School of Continuing Education, held its inaugural Employer Open House on Tuesday, January 27 on the third floor of Building 410.

The event was designed to showcase academic and short-term vocational programs and highlight free employer training resources and support services offered at Mt. 黑料导航.

鈥淭his event was an excellent opportunity for Mt. 黑料导航 to welcome our community and business partners to campus,鈥 said Lizette Henderson, the Acting Director of the Career Center. 鈥淥ur goal was to inspire guests to build dedicated internship and employment pipelines, demonstrating the immense value Mt. 黑料导航 students bring to the regional workforce.鈥

Over 60 local businesses and 100 employment partners were in attendance, exploring ways to bring internship opportunities to Mt. 黑料导航 students. For some in attendance, it was their first time visiting the new-and-improved version of Mt. 黑料导航.

鈥淭hey were really impressed with our campus, the caliber of our programs, and the resources available to them,鈥 Henderson said. 鈥淭he employers felt that they understood more intimately who we are and that they are excited to partner with us and develop these pipelines for employment for our students.鈥

At the conclusion of the event, attendees were taken on tours to sections of the campus they may not have explored before, including visits to Athletics, Caf茅 91, the Child Development Center, the Mt. 黑料导航 Farm, and the Wildlife Sanctuary.

鈥淎nd it鈥檚 all to serve our students.鈥

The Employer Open House was the first step, and the Career Center plans several more giant leaps for students and alumni seeking work.

鈥淲e wanted to invite our employers personally to campus to showcase everything we do at Mt. 黑料导航 with the intention that they would get to know our students better, our programs better, and that would ultimately lead to employment, internship, and apprenticeship opportunities for our students,鈥 Henderson said.

Students and alumni will want to plan for the Career Center鈥檚 Career Expo, which will be April 7 in Building 410 on the third floor. Employers who attended the Employer Open House will be back for the Career Expo.

Career Center acting director Lizette Henderson.鈥淲e are engaging with our employers and businesses in our community, we are getting them excited about our students, and now in April they will get to meet them through the career fair we are putting together,鈥 Henderson said. 鈥淭he Career Expo will be the largest Mt. 黑料导航 has ever hosted. It will provide opportunities for students and alumni to visit with a larger population of employers in multiple disciplines.鈥

Jobseekers will have access to free professional headshots, health services, clothing closets with professional attire, on-site interviews, and resume reviews.

鈥淎ll these things will connect together,鈥 Henderson said, 鈥渟o the students can have the best experience at our Career Expo in planning what their future looks like while they are at Mt. 黑料导航 and after.鈥
